The Norwegian Data Protection Authority (DPA) - The Norwegian Data Protection Authority (DPA) is a public authority. They are an independent body set up in 1980 to protect the individual’s privacy. They are financed by the Norwegian government and administratively subordinate to the Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation.

Data protection is about your fundamental right to privacy, and one of their main tasks is to protect the individual’s privacy. Their role is to uphold a number of acts and regulation concerning data protection. However, the main legislation directing their work is the Personal Data Act. The Personal Data Act set out the general principle that individuals should be in a position to control how data relating to them is used.
